Celebrating 40 Years of Leadership Congratulations to Dave Harker

All at Newsome Ltd would like to extend their heartfelt congratulations to Dave Harker, who this year celebrates an incredible 40 years of continuous service with the business.

From his earliest days in the company on the shop floor, via Managing Director, to his current position as Strategic Projects Director, Dave’s impact on Newsome has been nothing short of transformational. Over four decades, he has played a key role in shaping the company’s culture, capabilities, and reputation—guiding it through industry changes, expanding its services, and always putting the customer first.

A Career Defined by Adaptability

What stands out most about Dave’s career is not just its longevity but also its adaptability. As Newsome has grown from a small local supplier to a respected national provider of process cooling, air conditioning, and temperature and humidity control systems, Dave has continuously evolved his role to meet new challenges. Whether stepping into sales, project leadership, operational oversight, or business development, Dave has shown a willingness to embrace change—often ahead of the curve. His flexible approach has allowed Newsome to expand into new sectors, adapt to emerging technologies, and respond to the evolving needs of its growing client base.

Most recently, following his inspirational time as Managing Director, Dave has taken on the role of Strategic Projects Director, leading Newsome’s expansion into larger, more complex rental and sales projects. In this position, he continues to apply his deep sector knowledge and commercial insight to deliver major solutions for customers with highly technical and time-sensitive requirements.

A Pillar of the Business

Within the company, Dave is often affectionately known as “Mr Newsome”—a fitting title for someone who has played such a central role in building the business over the last 40 years. His influence can be seen across every department, and his legacy is reflected in the strong relationships, high standards, and technical excellence that Newsome is known for today. Dave’s leadership has helped mould Newsome into a company that is trusted by leading manufacturers across the UK in sectors such as food and beverage, plastics, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. From launching new service lines to mentoring team members and steering long-term strategy, his contribution has touched every part of the business.

Leading by Example

As a leader, Dave remains hands-on and collaborative. He works closely with the Sales and Projects teams, supports new business development, and ensures the company’s operational and service standards are upheld across the board. He also maintains a strong presence within the Service Department, ensuring continuity of Newsome’s highly regarded after-sales support. His technical credibility is reinforced by his IEng ACIBSE status, a professional certification awarded by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning and engineering excellence.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating

Reaching 40 years with one company is a rare achievement—and to have contributed so significantly during that time is even rarer. Dave’s professionalism, adaptability, and vision have helped steer Newsome through market shifts, economic cycles, and significant periods of growth. As the business continues to expand into new markets and take on more ambitious projects, Dave remains a valued and influential figure—offering both leadership and mentorship to the next generation of Newsome engineers and commercial specialists.
