Newsome Delivers Rapid HVAC Hire Solution for Leading Nutrition Brand Huel

Newsome has successfully delivered a turnkey HVAC hire solution to Huel, one of the UK’s fastest-growing nutrition companies, to support their production facility in Hertfordshire during the peak summer season. Faced with rising temperatures and the need to maintain stable internal conditions for both staff and product integrity, Huel contacted Newsome with an urgent requirement for a high-capacity cooling system. The request was for a solution that could be deployed quickly and operate reliably across their mezzanine production area.

Following a detailed review of site conditions and thermal demands, the Newsome engineering team designed and installed a temporary system comprising a high-performance NR-120 air-cooled process chiller and four NR-AHU50 vertical air handling units. The system is now live and on hire, delivering targeted cooling throughout the production space.

“It was clear from our initial site discussions that cooling performance and airflow distribution were key priorities,” said Richard Metcalfe, Group Managing Director at Newsome. “By supplying a tailored hire solution using our NR-120 and AHU50 fleet, we were able to meet Huel’s needs with speed and technical assurance.”

The NR-120 chiller provides over 116 kW of cooling, delivering reliable performance even during high ambient temperatures. Designed for industrial process applications, it features a robust shell-and-tube evaporator, integral buffer tank, and efficient scroll compressors running on R410A refrigerant. The unit also meets full Ecodesign SEPR compliance, supporting energy-efficient operation throughout the hire term.

Complementing the chiller, the four NR-AHU50 units deliver cool air directly to heat-sensitive areas on the mezzanine floor. Each unit includes advanced controls, humidity sensors, and integrated condensate management for autonomous performance.

Huel, founded in 2015, produces a wide range of plant-based meal replacement products. With increasing consumer demand for high-quality, nutritionally complete foods, the company’s production operations must maintain strict environmental control to uphold consistency and product standards. The system was supplied as a complete turnkey package, including interconnecting hoses, electrical cabling, and on-site commissioning by the Newsome service team. Since going live, the equipment has performed reliably, helping to maintain a stable working environment during the current UK heatwave.
