Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge 2025: In Memory of Oliver Holroyd
Following the success of our 2023 National 3 Peaks and 2024 Calderdale Way Challenges, we’re proud to be taking on another ambitious goal for 2025 – the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, in aid of the Stroke Association.
On Saturday 13th September, a team from Newsome and Penmann will walk the 24-mile route, climbing over 5,000 feet across the three stunning peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough. The challenge will raise vital funds and awareness for the Stroke Association, a cause that now holds a personal meaning for many of us.
Why We’re Supporting the Stroke Association
Our motivation to support the Stroke Association stems from a tragic event that has affected several members of the Newsome team. On 22nd March 2025, Oliver Holroyd – a childhood friend to three of our colleagues – tragically passed away at just 29 years old, after suffering a stroke whilst abroad, celebrating his stag do.
The loss has been devastating for his friends and family. Oly leaves behind his fiancée, Paige, and their young son, Finley, who is only one year old. The emotional toll of the past few months has been immeasurable for all who knew him.
Raising Funds and Awareness
In honour of Oly’s memory, we are committed to raising as much as we can for the Stroke Association. The charity does vital work to support those affected by strokes and to raise awareness, particularly of the risks in younger people.
This cause is more than just a fundraiser for us; it’s a way to ensure that his untimely passing leads to something meaningful and helps prevent others from facing similar heartache.
How You Can Help
We would be grateful for any support you can give. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly to the Stroke Association and help fund life-saving research, support services, and education programmes.
